Welcome to Kinic! These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Kinic Chrome Extension (“Extension”), the Kinic website at https://www.kinic.io, and related services (collectively, the “Service”), provided by Kinic, Inc. (“Kinic,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).

By installing the Kinic browser extension, creating an account, or otherwise using Kinic (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Kinic Does

Kinic is a Chrome plugin that helps you collect and organize personal data from websites you visit. You can save snippets, links, and content directly into your own vector database and AI memory storage, which can later be queried or used to augment AI tools.

Kinic lets you capture web pages, emails, notes, and other content, convert that content into vector embeddings, and store it on decentralized smart contracts on the Internet Computer blockchain.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use Kinic. If you're using Kinic on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms. You must have the legal capacity to enter a contract.

3. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Extension only for lawful purposes.
  • Not misuse or reverse-engineer the Extension.
  • Ensure you have the legal right to capture and store any content you add to your vector database.
  • Maintain and secure your own vector database; we do not manage or backup your data.

4. User Content & Licenses

  • Your ownership. You retain all rights in the original materials you capture.
  • License to Kinic. You grant Kinic a worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, index, process, and display your captured content solely to provide the Service.‍
  • Prohibited content. Do not submit material that is illegal, infringes others’ rights, or contains personal data you lack the authority to share.

5. Privacy

Kinic does not collect, store, or sell your personal browsing data. Any information you choose to store via Kinic stays in your control. Please read our Privacy Policy to learn more.

6. Intellectual Property

The Kinic Extension and all associated branding, code, and content (excluding your own data) are the intellectual property of Kinic, Inc. You may not use our name or assets without permission.

7. Changes to the Service

We may update, modify, or discontinue parts of the Service at any time. We’ll try to notify users when changes are significant, but it's your responsibility to stay up to date with the latest version of these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee uptime, accuracy, or suitability for any purpose. You assume full responsibility for any actions you take based on your use of Kinic. Blockchain storage is often immutable; deletion requests may be technically impossible.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kinic will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Aggregate liability will not exceed USD 100.

10. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Kinic and its affiliates against any claims or losses arising from your breach of these Terms or your content.

11. Termination

You can uninstall Kinic at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you’re violating these Terms or using the Service in a harmful way. Data stored on-chain may persist after termination.

12. Changes to Terms

Kinic may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted in-app or on kinic.io 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Yotk, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
